Yemen’s Houthis claimed on Tuesday that they had hit the Ras Tanoura refinery, operated by Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia’s eastern province, with a ballistic missile, causing widespread fires. Their military spokesman, Yahya Saree, claimed a “precise” strike on X.
The Saudi-led military coalition said earlier that it had intercepted three ballistic missiles fired towards the east of the kingdom. A resident of Al-Khobar, a city in the same province, told AFP that he had heard a loud explosion at dawn after receiving an alert on his phone.
The Ras Tanoura refinery, one of the largest in the Middle East, had already been targeted at the start of the war triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran, which disrupted its operations. The attack comes after several Houthi missile launches intercepted by Riyadh, including a ballistic missile intercepted on 24 October and 10 missiles intercepted on 25 October.
