Explosions were reported in Riyadh as the Houthi movement Ansar Allah warned Egypt, amid intensified fighting in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Talks between Washington and Tehran remain deadlocked, L’essentiel reports.
Saudi air defence intercepted two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis towards Riyadh, coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said on Tuesday 27 October. The missiles were targeting the Saudi capital, according to his message published on X.
Saudi forces said Riyadh had been targeted several times in recent weeks by attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi movement. Tuesday’s meeting in Moscow between Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also covered the regional conflict, according to an official Qatari statement.
The tensions come amid a deadlock in talks between Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump threatened to intensify the US offensive against Iran on 25 October, after considering new military operations against the country on 24 October.
