Fans clashed with security officers on Monday evening outside the London Palladium, where the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony was being held. Several dozen people tried to get past a barrier to move closer to the red carpet and see the nominees, before police intervened, reports BusinessDay.
A Radio France journalist, Julien Froment, said on X that the barrier was struggling to contain the crowd. Police intervened to restore calm, while traffic disruptions and the crowds around the venue delayed the start of the ceremony, initially scheduled for 8pm.
The evening was notably marked by Luis de la Fuente being crowned the year’s best men’s coach and by the presentation of the Kopa Trophy to Lamine Yamal.
