Harry Kane, the English Bayern Munich forward, says he would choose the Champions League trophy over his Ballon d’Or, which he won the previous week. He expressed this preference on Monday in Madrid, before Bayern travelled to face Atlético, according to Citizen Digital.

Harry Kane, the English forward for Bayern Munich, said on Monday that he would choose to win the Champions League rather than keep his Ballon d’Or, on the eve of his team’s trip to face Atlético Madrid. However, he said he hoped he could win both trophies, according to comments reported by Citizen Digital.

Named Ballon d’Or winner the previous week ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal, Kane explained that trophies won with his team-mates were at the heart of his motivation. He described the individual award as one of the best moments of his career, while saying he wanted to experience the emotion of lifting the European Cup with Bayern.

Atlético coach Diego Simeone praised Kane as an “incredible” player and “very good for football”. The forward thanked the Argentine coach, while saying that Simeone would do everything to stop Bayern from winning on Tuesday.

The match is being played at the Metropolitano stadium, where Kane lost the 2019 Champions League final with Tottenham against Liverpool. The same stadium is due to host this season’s final. Bayern have won only one of their first three league-phase matches, drawing against Arsenal and Viking.
