Slavia Prague host Arsenal in the Champions League with just one win in 23 matches in the competition, alongside eight draws and 14 defeats. The Czech club could equal AEK Athens’ record of 24 consecutive games without a win, according to Citizen Digital, which quotes their manager Jindřich Trpišovský.

Slavia Prague risk extending their winless Champions League run to 24 matches when they host Arsenal on Wednesday, Citizen Digital reports. The Czech club have won only one of their last 23 matches in the competition, on their debut against Steaua Bucharest in September 2007, followed by eight draws and 14 defeats.

The record for consecutive matches without a win is held by AEK Athens, who went 24 games without success between 1992 and 2006. Slavia have faced Arsenal three times in the Champions League, recording one draw and two defeats, including a 7-0 loss in London in 2007.

Slavia manager Jindrich Trpisovsky, who has been in the post since 2017, considers the run increasingly difficult to endure. Former club striker Vladimir Smicer believes the team has sometimes been unlucky, but also underperformed against Sabah, who beat them 2-0 in Baku in October.

Arsenal will travel after their 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, a result reported in Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool. Slavia will then host Villarreal before travelling to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
