Amaury Group, owner of L’Équipe and France Football, is preparing a complaint after allegations of leaks and potentially fraudulent betting surrounding the Ballon d’Or won by Harry Kane. Upside says nearly 265,000 dollars was wagered across 12 accounts before the ceremony in London, and Amaury says investigations are under way.

Amaury Group, owner of the daily newspaper L’Équipe and the magazine France Football, is preparing a complaint following allegations of leaked results and potentially fraudulent betting surrounding the Ballon d’Or won by England’s Harry Kane on Tuesday, the group told AFP on Monday.

Online financial outlet Upside claims that nearly 265,000 dollars was wagered across 12 accounts potentially held by the same person on the Polymarket betting platform, which is banned in France. According to Upside, the bets anticipated the top-five ranking: Kane, Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi.

Amaury said it took the allegations seriously and that investigations were under way to verify the facts and establish any possible responsibility. The group described the integrity of the Ballon d’Or as a priority.

The suspicions come after several reports were published about voting for the award, including those by a Moroccan jury member who says he was pressured.
