Nathalia Gadelha, 20, has been identified as the co-pilot killed in a Learjet 60 crash that claimed nine lives in Florida. The aircraft was travelling from Austin to the Bahamas and US authorities, including the FAA and NTSB, are investigating the cause of the accident, P.M. News reports.
Nine people, including co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha, 20, died in the crash of a Learjet 60 on Sunday near Greenacres, in Palm Beach County, Florida. The young pilot’s mother and stepfather confirmed her death, P.M. News reports, citing TMZ and the New York Post.
The aircraft was flying between Austin, Texas, and the Bahamas when it abruptly lost altitude before crashing near a mobile home park and catching fire. All nine people on board died. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident.
Gadelha obtained her private pilot’s licence at 17 while studying at West Boca Raton High School. She began flight lessons in 2020 and was seeking to become an airline pilot. In 2023, she said she had logged 88 flight hours.
Confirmation of her identity comes after the Learjet crash in Florida, reported on 1 November. The pilot had reported turbulence before the accident, according to details published on 2 November in another article about the investigation.
