Everton beat Newcastle 1-0 in the Premier League thanks to a goal from Thierno Barry, their first away league win since February. Newcastle’s fourth defeat in five matches increases the pressure on manager Matthias Jaissle, according to Citizen Digital.

Everton beat Newcastle 1-0 away in the Premier League on Monday, 2 November, thanks to a goal by French striker Thierno Barry early in the second half. The win lifted the club to seventh place, while Newcastle, managed by German Matthias Jaissle, fell to 13th, according to AFP.

Newcastle midfielder Jacob Ramsey was sent off in the closing seconds for a foul on Harrison Armstrong. Jaissle’s players were booed at half-time and at the final whistle, as Newcastle lost for the fourth time in their last five matches in all competitions.

Barry’s goal, his eighth of the season and fourth in six games, gave Everton a second win over Newcastle in five days. Everton had already knocked their opponents out of the League Cup with a 3-1 win in the round of 16 on Thursday. The club also ended a run of two league defeats.

For Newcastle, the defeat extends Jaissle’s difficult start to the season after he arrived following Eddie Howe’s departure. The team travel to fellow strugglers Fulham on Saturday, AFP reports.
