The Multinational Force for Ukraine, a coalition of Kyiv’s allies led by France and the United Kingdom, will bring together about 2,800 troops from ten countries in Poland from 9 to 22 November for its first full-scale exercise. Paris and London announced on Tuesday that the manoeuvres, named “Koalicja”, would take place.
The exercise is intended to test the forces’ ability to deploy and operate together. Participants include 1,100 French soldiers and 300 British troops, who will be stationed at Nowa Dęba in south-eastern Poland, about 100 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
Turkey, which leads the coalition’s maritime component, due to deploy after hostilities between Russia and Ukraine end, will for its part hold a simulation on securing the Black Sea, according to the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
The announcement follows the publication on 2 November of a plan to deploy 2,800 soldiers from the coalition of the willing in Poland.
