A 46-year-old paediatrician is on trial in Germany over more than 130 alleged offences involving sexual abuse of more than 70 children between 2013 and 2025 at clinics in Nauen and Rathenow, in the east of the country. He admitted most of the allegations after the charges were read, Citizen Digital reports, adding that hearings began on Monday.

A 46-year-old paediatrician went on trial on Monday in Potsdam, Germany, accused of sexually abusing more than 70 children between 2013 and 2025. He faces more than 130 charges relating to alleged offences at clinics in Nauen and Rathenow, Citizen Digital reports.

After the charges were read, the doctor admitted most of the alleged acts and confirmed his earlier confessions. Prosecutors say he allegedly asked children to undress so he could photograph or film them, sometimes under the pretext of medical examinations. In at least four cases, he allegedly took advantage of medical visits to nurseries to abuse children.

The doctor was arrested about a year before the trial, after a mother reported the matter to the authorities. A search of his electronic devices enabled investigators to find further visual material, prosecutors said. He is being held pending trial.

The trial, held in Potsdam near Berlin, is expected to continue until December.
