Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a press freedom organisation, has included US President Donald Trump among the 33 “predators of press freedom” identified in 2026. The list was published on Monday 2 November, according to the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP).
RSF accuses Donald Trump of stepping up attacks on the media since the start of his second term and of imposing physical restrictions on journalists in the United States. The country ranks 64th in the organisation’s World Press Freedom Index. The gallery also names Russian President Vladimir Putin, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, the Israeli armed forces, the Chinese Communist Party and Mexican cartels.
The 33 actors are divided into five categories according to their methods: political, security, legal, economic and social. New figures include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, criticised for imprisoning journalists and closing media outlets, and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokaïev, accused of abusive legal proceedings. RSF also attributes more than 1,600 anti-press posts on X to Argentine President Javier Milei over 47 days between April and May 2026. The publication comes on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
