Democrats and Donald Trump are holding their final rallies ahead of the US midterm elections, a vote that could cost Republicans control of Congress. Democrats hope to retake the House of Representatives and make gains in the Senate, according to IOL.
Democratic candidates held their final rallies on Monday to mobilise voters ahead of Tuesday’s US midterm elections. They hope to regain at least partial control of Congress and limit President Donald Trump’s room for manoeuvre, according to IOL.
Democrats are favoured to win a majority in the House of Representatives and have a real chance in the Senate, currently controlled by Republicans. A victory in the House would give them voting power over the federal budget and allow committees to launch investigations into corruption allegations against the Trump administration, as well as the Epstein files.
Donald Trump ended his campaign with a speech at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, after saying on Sunday: “We’re going to win.” An NBC News poll published on Sunday found that 60% of Americans disapprove of his performance, notably because of rising prices and the war against Iran, which has been under way for eight months.
The rallies ended a campaign marked by Donald Trump’s veto pledges and concerns over the cost of living, according to articles published on 31 October and 1 November.
