The Guelmim-Oued Noun City of Trades and Skills welcomed its first cohort of trainees, officially launching its vocational training programmes in the region. The institution is intended to meet the skills needs of local economic sectors, according to the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP), citing Minister Nabil Benabdallah.
The Guelmim-Oued Noun City of Trades and Skills (CMC) welcomed its first cohort of trainees on Saturday, marking the start of its vocational training programmes, according to MAP. The institution, which is intended to meet the skills needs of the region’s economic sectors, has an annual capacity of 1,100 places and offers 32 courses.
Built on 3.9 hectares in Guelmim, the CMC divides its training across four centres devoted to agriculture, digital technology and artificial intelligence, construction and public works, and fishing, according to MAP. It includes, in particular, a teaching farm and a “Digital Factory” intended for innovation and project development.
The launch took place in the presence of Morocco’s Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Nabil Benabdallah, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Jalal Charaf, and the director-general of the Office of Vocational Training and Labour Promotion (OFPPT), Loubna Tricha. Nabil Benabdallah said the CMC should bring the education system, vocational training and the labour market closer together.
The opening follows the launch on 27 October of mobile training in educational artificial intelligence, and the presentation on 24 October of projects in southern Morocco to French investors.
