Morocco’s interior minister met trade union confederations represented in the House of Councillors to prepare for the 2027 elections. Discussions focused on elections for employee representatives and finalising the electoral roll, as several terms expire in June 2027, according to the ministry.
Morocco’s interior minister met on Friday with the secretaries-general and officials of trade union confederations represented in the House of Councillors to prepare for the 2027 elections, including the election of employee representatives and members of the parliamentary chamber, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry.
The discussions focused on organising the election of staff representatives in the civil service, local authorities and public institutions, as well as employees in the private sector and workers in mining companies. The current terms of these representatives expire in June 2027. Participants also examined the finalisation of the electoral roll for those eligible to take part in the election of employee representatives to the House of Councillors, according to the Interior Ministry.
The meeting was held as part of consultations with political and social stakeholders. Union officials expressed their willingness to contribute to the organisation of the 2027 elections, particularly the election of employee delegates, according to the ministry statement.
The meeting came a day after information was published about preparations for the electoral rolls for the 2027 elections, announced on 29 October. It also forms part of a political calendar marked by the Moroccan RNI congress, scheduled for 22 and 23 January 2027.
