Morocco’s interior minister has consulted leaders of parties represented in Parliament on preparations for the 2027 elections, which will renew national, local and professional bodies. Discussions included preparing electoral rolls and renewing measures aimed at ensuring the integrity of elections, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry.

Morocco’s Interior Minister met party leaders represented in Parliament on Wednesday in Rabat to prepare for the 2027 elections, according to a statement from his ministry. Discussions focused in particular on drawing up national and professional electoral rolls and on rules governing the elections.

Political leaders were informed that legislative measures applied in the last parliamentary elections could be renewed, particularly those aimed at ensuring the integrity of electoral processes. The consultation also addressed conditions for fair competition and strengthening citizens’ confidence in elected institutions, the ministry said.

The parties must submit their proposals to the Interior Ministry by 15 November 2026. The government will then prepare a preliminary framework for possible changes to the electoral rules, before they are considered through the legislative process.

The 2027 elections are due to renew national, local and professional bodies, including municipal, prefectural, provincial and regional councils, professional chambers and the House of Councillors. Morocco’s 2027 budget was also presented in recent days, including in the context of the government’s budget priorities.
