Ghana’s Health Ministry is asking hotels to report guests arriving from countries affected by Ebola and keep a register during their stay. The measure complements screening at Accra airport, temporary isolation of symptomatic travellers and monitoring that can last 21 days, according to Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
Ghana’s Ministry of Health is asking hotels to report to the authorities guests arriving from countries affected by Ebola and to keep a register of people staying at their establishments, according to a statement issued on 3 November by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The travellers concerned may be monitored for up to 21 days and receive regular follow-up after that period. The system also provides for referral for secondary assessment and temporary isolation for passengers displaying symptoms or who have recently stayed in an affected country.
The measure complements screening for arrivals at Accra airport, announced on 3 November in the monitoring of travellers for 21 days. It follows the strengthening of Ghanaian checks announced on 21 October, when no Ebola cases had been recorded in Ghana.
