The government of Eswatini has officially raised maximum bread prices by 4.23%, according to a notice published in the Government Gazette and reported by the Times of Eswatini. The price ceiling for an 800-gram white loaf has risen from 17.90 to 18.66 emalangeni, while that for a brown loaf of the same weight has increased from 15.60 to 16.26 emalangeni.
For 700-gram loaves, the maximum price of white bread has risen from 16.36 to 17.05 emalangeni and that of brown bread from 14.64 to 15.26 emalangeni. The Eswatini Bakers Association had requested the revision, citing rising production costs, particularly fuel and transport. The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade said the request had been assessed in light of changes in the prices of inputs.
The new price schedule replaces the 2025 regulatory notice and applies under the 1973 Price Control Order. It comes eleven months after a 7% increase that took effect on 1 November 2025.
