Oil tax revenues rose by 1.2 billion dollars as a result of prices, according to Expansão, citing statistics from the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels.
Angola produced an average of 1.029 million barrels of oil per day between January and September 2026, a level almost unchanged from the same period a year earlier, according to calculations by Expansão based on statistics from the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG). Production increased by just 0.01%, or about 60 barrels per day.
The country extracted 280.8 million barrels in the first nine months of the year. This average was 21,400 barrels per day below the forecast of 1.05 million in the 2026 state budget. To reach that annual target, production would need to average about 1.112 million barrels per day in the final quarter.
The start of production at the Begónia, CLOV Phase 3 and FPSO Agogo projects, launched in the second half of 2025, helped support output. Each was designed to add up to 30,000 barrels per day, but its contribution depends on the pace of development and operating conditions.
Oil tax revenues, meanwhile, rose by 16% to 7.8 trillion kwanzas, or 8.6 billion dollars, over the period. Higher prices offset the decline in export volumes. This comes as Sonangol prepares to develop the Benguela gas field, announced on 21 October.
