Eswatini gospel singer Nothando Hlophe announces that her song “Mmeli Wami” surpassed 100,000 YouTube views in 48 hours. Featuring contributions from Mzo Dlamini, the track precedes the planned 13 November release of the album “Spirit of Praise 12”, according to the Times of Eswatini.

Eswatini gospel singer Nothando Hlophe surpassed 100,000 YouTube views in 48 hours with “Mmeli Wami”, she announced on her social media accounts. She thanked her supporters and attributed the result to their mobilisation.

The song is to serve as a prelude to the album “Spirit of Praise 12”, whose release is scheduled for 13 November. It is the subject of a debate over its origins, to which Mzo Dlamini and Nothando Hlophe’s team responded in a joint statement: Dlamini wrote and owns the rights to the chorus, while Hlophe wrote the verses performed during the live recording.

The performance was also shared for the spiritual dimension of its lyrics and the singer’s dance, which appealed to gospel fans. Nothando Hlophe won the Best of Africa prize at the 18th Crown Gospel Music Awards and is notably known for “Methodist Medley”, which has tens of millions of views, according to the Times of Eswatini.
