Djinaky’s municipal council in Bignona department, Senegal, has adopted a 2026-2030 communal development plan worth 10.218 billion CFA francs. The programme aims to make the commune a prosperous and resilient rural hub through four strategic areas, according to SeneNews.

The municipal council of Djinaky, a commune in Bignona department, adopted a 2026-2030 communal development plan with an estimated budget of 10.218 billion CFA francs. The decision was taken on Friday 23 October 2026 under the leadership of mayor Alphoussény Diémé, SeneNews reports.

The plan aims to make Djinaky a prosperous, inclusive and resilient rural hub. It sets out four strategic areas, focused in particular on enhancing natural resources, developing economic potential, sustainably managing the communal area and addressing the effects of climate change.

To finance the 10,218,050,000 CFA francs required, the municipality plans to mobilise its budget, state transfers, contributions from national partners such as the Programme to Support Senegal’s communes and urban areas (PACASEN), as well as decentralised cooperation. It also plans to seek public programmes, including ANRAC and the Diomaye Plan for Casamance, and to use loans or public-private partnerships, according to SeneNews.

The document’s preparation was financed by the Casamance Economic Development Programme, with support from the Ziguinchor Regional Development Agency. Its implementation must be preceded by consultations on the organisation of the powers transferred to the commune, particularly in the agricultural sector.
