The Agropole Centre project has mobilised more than 400 million CFA francs to compensate people affected by the development of its agro-industrial parks in Senegal. Babou Dramé, the programme’s national coordinator, announced the amount on the sidelines of a forum on plant value chains in Karone, according to iRadio, cited by SeneNews.

The agro-industrial park in Mélacadia, developed by the Belgian agency Enabel, has been completed. The next step is to construct buildings for companies, while efforts continue to secure the possible installation of around 10 companies on the site.

Agropole Centre also wants to bring agricultural producers closer to processing companies to ensure a regular supply of raw materials to future industrial units. The programme therefore combines site development, compensation for affected people and the development of local processing of agricultural produce.
