The custody of Kévin T., the main suspect in the Trappes and La Verrière shootings, was lifted after a psychiatric examination. The custody of Kévin T., the main suspect in the shootings in Trappes and La Verrière, was lifted on Sunday after a psychiatric examination. He was transferred to the psychiatric infirmary of the police prefecture in Paris for an observation period of up to 48 hours, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) announced.
The observation is intended to determine whether his state of health allows questioning to resume. The four members of his family and social circle, including his parents, remain in custody, while toxicology tests revealed the presence of cannabis and cocaine in the suspect’s blood, according to Pnat. A search of his flat also uncovered a device consisting of gas bottles, electrical wires and a timer, according to a source close to the case quoted by Agence France-Presse.
The lifting of his custody follows the suspect’s placement under that regime on 23 October, as part of the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s investigation into the shootings in Yvelines, France. It came after the questioning of his relatives and the suspect’s statements about a racist motive, reported on 24 October by three people close to the suspect and in the investigation into the shootings in Trappes.
