Three associates of the suspect in the Trappes and La Verrière shooting, which left one person dead and five injured, have been placed in police custody. That of the main suspect, Kévin T., was extended on Saturday after an initial questioning, the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office told AFP.

Kévin T.’s police custody, as a suspect in the shooting that left one person dead and five injured in Yvelines, France, was extended on Saturday 24 October, while three members of his family and circle of friends were placed in police custody on Friday evening or overnight, the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said. The suspect’s mother is among those close to him, according to a source close to the case cited by AFP.

Kévin T.’s state of health was deemed compatible with police custody. A blood test to measure possible drug use is under way, while his criminal record lists four old convictions automatically expunged, according to the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office.

A search of his flat uncovered a device made up of gas canisters and electrical wires connected to a timer. In his Renault Clio, investigators also found a Sten-type submachine gun and a tear-gas canister, according to the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office.

These new police custody measures come after Kévin T. was placed in police custody on 23 October, the day after the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office opened an investigation. They follow the discovery, announced on 24 October, of three booby-trapped gas canisters at the suspect’s home.
