Chad’s Minister of National Education, Mahamat Ahmat Al-Habo, has banned the transfer of pupils enrolled in troisième and terminale in all academies. The circular was signed on Friday 30 October, according to N’Djaména Actu.
The measure applies to public and private schools. The minister said it aims to stabilise pupils’ educational pathways and allow candidates to prepare for official examinations in better conditions. He asked academic officials to circulate the directive to school heads and ensure its implementation.
The ban is part of a series of measures concerning the organisation of schooling in Chad. On 16 October, the minister banned the exclusion of pupils over unpaid fees, in a directive on school fees. On 29 October, the country also launched a census of teachers absent after the start of the school year.
