Chad’s Minister of Public Security, Gal Ali Ahmat Aghabache, has banned the National Movement for Justice march planned for 31 October 2026. The order applies across the entire national territory and gives two reasons, according to Journal du Tchad.
Chad’s Minister of Public Security and Immigration, Gal Ali Ahmat Aghabache, has banned the march planned by the National Movement for Justice for Saturday 31 October 2026 across the entire national territory, according to an order made public by his ministry on Friday 30 October. The demonstration was due to take place in N’Djamena.
The order cites non-compliance with Article 6, paragraphs 1 and 6, of the ordinance of 1 August 2023 on demonstrations on public roads. The minister accuses the MNJ of failing to provide the names and addresses of the organisers and the practical arrangements planned to oversee the gathering. He also cites a risk of public disorder, according to Journal du Tchad.
If the march goes ahead, the organisers and participants may be prosecuted before the competent courts for any damage, break-ins, offences or other disturbances, the order warns. The MNJ, chaired by Idriss Mahamat Adam, submitted its application for authorisation on 19 October for a gathering along the route from the Centenaire roundabout to the town hall.
