Chad’s Education Ministry has ordered every class teacher to organise 30 minutes of dengue prevention awareness, including 15 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes of discussion. The campaign must stress standing water, sanitation and protection against mosquitoes, according to a circular signed by Vaibra Nicolas.
Chad’s Ministry of National Education has required class teachers to hold a 30-minute awareness session on dengue prevention. The measure is set out in a circular published on 23 October 2026, according to Tchadinfos.
The session includes 15 minutes of presentation based on provided educational material, followed by 15 minutes of discussion with pupils. Teachers must notably explain how to eliminate standing water, improve sanitation in living environments and protect against mosquito bites, the circular signed by the ministry’s secretary-general, Vaibra Nicolas, states. It assigns the entire education system responsibility for monitoring implementation of the instruction.
The ministry justifies the campaign by the growing number of reported cases in N’Djaména and several provinces. On 20 October, eight deaths and 250 confirmed dengue cases in Chad had been reported. The new instruction follows dengue cases reported in four areas of Chad on 5 October.
