Sewage has flooded bedrooms and the areas around homes in Grand-Dakar, exposing residents to health risks. Mayor Jean-Baptiste Diouf says Senegal’s National Sanitation Office intervened once without solving the problem permanently, according to his statement.
The mayor of Grand-Dakar, Jean-Baptiste Diouf, has raised the alarm over the health risks posed by sewage that has flooded bedrooms and the areas around homes in a neighbourhood of the municipality. He described the situation as “disastrous” and “calamitous”, according to Seneweb.
The municipal technical services contacted Senegal’s National Sanitation Office (ONAS), which intervened once before leaving without returning to resolve the problem, Jean-Baptiste Diouf said. The mayor called for the organisation to intervene again quickly, saying residents were facing a public health problem and could not sleep normally in rooms flooded with contaminated water, according to Seneweb.
