A convoy of 665 fuel tankers arrived in Bamako on 7 November under escort by the Malian Armed Forces. The delivery is intended to strengthen the capital’s hydrocarbon stocks and support continuity of domestic supply, according to Mali Actu.
A convoy of 665 fuel tankers arrived in the early hours of Saturday 7 November 2026 at car parks in Bamako, escorted by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa). These deliveries strengthen the capital’s strategic hydrocarbon stocks, whose supply depends heavily on cross-border road corridors in a landlocked Sahelian country.
The systematic use of military escorts is explained by security risks along supply routes and geopolitical uncertainties affecting the petroleum products sector. Securing these flows also aims to counter speculative practices and stabilise prices on the domestic market.
This convoy is part of a series of large-scale supplies to the capital: 596 fuel tankers arrived under escort on 31 October, after more than 5,300 tankers on 11 October and more than 643 tankers on 3 October.
