It is the first partnership of its kind between Visa and a Senegalese public institution.
The two partners will notably study payment solutions between citizens and the state, as well as public disbursements to individuals. The memorandum also provides for exchanges of expertise on cybersecurity and the rules applicable to digital financial services.
Minister Samba Diouf presented the agreement as a way of moving towards practical and secure solutions that meet Senegalese people’s everyday needs. Aminata Kane, Visa’s regional head for West and Central Africa, said the company would help identify ways to improve access to digital services.
