Eswatini Bank introduced its ShareSha digital wallet to agents and residents of Shiselweni. The service lets users send money to any phone number, even if the recipient is not registered. The training in Nhlangano aimed to expand access to digital financial services in the region, according to the Times of Eswatini.
Eswatini Bank trained agents and residents in the Shiselweni region to use ShareSha, its digital wallet, which allows users to send money to a phone number even if its owner is not registered with the service. The training took place at Bethesda Church in Nhlangano, according to the Times of Eswatini.
Customers can register through the Nomakuphi app, by dialling the USSD code *656# or at a branch. They can then send and receive money through the app, USSD mobile banking or online banking. Cash deposits and withdrawals are available through the bank’s authorised agents and at its ATMs.
ShareSha also allows users to buy airtime and data bundles from MTN and Eswatini Mobile, pay electricity bills to the Eswatini Electricity Company and settle local water bills. Users can also top up prepaid cards for digital and online payments.
Eswatini Bank’s head of products and channels, Simanga Motsa, urged agents to prioritise helping customers and to contact the bank if they encounter any difficulties. The bank’s representative, Thembisa Maseko, showed participants how to register using a mobile phone and a national identity document.
