A Tunisian ministerial order sets 9pm as the latest return time at public university residences and regulates visits, inspections and disciplinary sanctions. Published in the Official Gazette on 6 November, the 32-article regulation replaces the 2009 rules and provides arrangements for Ramadan and certain activities.

A new order by Tunisia’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research sets 9pm as the latest return time for students at public university residences. Dated 3 November 2026 and published in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT) No. 108 on 6 November, the regulation replaces the rules in force since 2009, according to Webdo.

The new regulation provides arrangements for special study programmes, the month of Ramadan and certain scientific, cultural and sporting events. Students may receive family members until 9pm in designated areas, while visitors must present identification to the administration, according to Webdo.

Residence management may also inspect rooms at any time, including in the absence of residents, with each visit recorded in a register noting in particular the date, time and any violations. Any student absent for more than one week must inform management within a maximum of two weeks from the start of their absence, according to Webdo.

The regulation contains 32 articles divided into five sections and requires each student to sign, before accommodation, an undertaking confirming that they have read the new rules and agree to comply with them, according to Webdo.
