Two US hotel contracts totalling $93,000 were concluded in Marrakech before Ivanka Trump’s private stay in Morocco. The bookings, intended for Secret Service advance teams, were revealed on 6 November by the Daily Mail and linked to her 29 October visit.

Two US hotel contracts totalling $93,000 were concluded in Marrakech to accommodate Secret Service teams tasked with preparing protection for a person designated as “VVIP”, a few days before Ivanka Trump’s private stay in Morocco, according to an investigation by the Daily Mail carried by Bladi and International Business Times UK.

The first contract, signed on 21 October with Sofitel Marrakech, provided for $59,543 for a Secret Service advance team. A second contract, awarded the following day to La Mamounia, amounted to $33,457. The documents do not identify Ivanka Trump personally, but the Daily Mail links the spending to her presence in Marrakech on 29 October, as the daughter of US President Donald Trump was then the only known person receiving Secret Service protection in Morocco.

The amount of the first contract nevertheless differs between the databases consulted: Federal Compass reports about $56,700 in commitments for the Sofitel contract, registered under reference 19M05527P0019. The $93,000 total corresponds to the amounts published by the Daily Mail.

The hotel expenses do not cover air tickets, meals, local transport or agents’ salaries. A Secret Service spokesperson reminded the Daily Mail that its agents permanently accompany people under their protection.
