In Morocco’s Parliament, the PJD, the Left Alliance and the Democratic Confederation of Labour called for improved relations with Algeria during a session on MINURSO’s mandate. Both chambers also welcomed the royal cabinet’s 30 October statement and sent a message of loyalty to King Mohammed VI, Yabiladi reports.
Moroccan parliamentary groups, including the Justice and Development Party (PJD), the Left Alliance and the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CDT), called on Monday 2 November for improved relations between Morocco and Algeria. They were speaking at a session of both chambers of the Moroccan Parliament devoted to the end of MINURSO’s mandate, Yabiladi reports.
The speakers also called for popular mobilisation and continued development of Morocco to defend the kingdom’s position on the Sahara. The session ended with the reading of a message of loyalty to King Mohammed VI from both chambers.
The debate follows the Security Council’s decision not to extend the mandate of MINURSO, the UN mission in the Sahara, and the royal statement on the Sahara, published on 30 October. The Moroccan Parliament had announced the session on 31 October.
