The 10th China-Africa Youth Festival ended on Tuesday 3 November in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, China, after a week of exchanges between around 50 young Africans and their Chinese counterparts. The closing ceremony was attended by Shaanxi’s vice-president, an adviser from the Chinese foreign ministry’s African Affairs Department and representatives of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation, reports Comores Infos.
Held from 28 October to 3 November around cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the festival enabled the delegations to visit Chinese historical and cultural sites, meet their peers and share their experiences. Xi’an, the historic birthplace of the Silk Road, hosted the final ceremony after seven days of meetings.
The Chinese adviser recalled that relations between China and African countries would mark their 70th anniversary in 2026 and had been elevated to a strategic partnership. He also mentioned several cooperation agreements concluded with African countries. The representative of the Union of the Comoros called for exchanges between young people to focus on knowledge-sharing, sustainable development and skills transfer.
The closing follows the participation of more than 200 Ugandan schools in the Mandarin competition, announced on 1 November as part of initiatives devoted to exchanges between China and Africa.
