Real Madrid coach José Mourinho said Vinicius is expected to start against AEK on 4 November in the fourth round of the Champions League. The Brazilian retains his place on the left wing despite competition from Ivorian Yan Diomandé, according to La Nouvelle Tribune.

Vinicius is expected to start for Real Madrid against AEK on Wednesday 4 November, on the fourth matchday of the Champions League. The Spanish club’s coach, José Mourinho, said at a press conference that he expected the Brazilian forward to start the match, La Nouvelle Tribune reports.

The decision comes as Ivorian forward Yan Diomandé has also established himself in attack. He scored in the 1-0 victory over Villarreal in La Liga and had already scored against RB Leipzig. According to Mourinho, Diomandé can play on either wing, but Vinicius remains the player best suited to the left.

Vinicius is serving a four-match domestic suspension after being sent off against Villarreal for pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair. Mourinho criticised the timing of the announcement of the sanction, while saying that Real Madrid’s attacking wealth was an opportunity rather than a problem.
