The prosecutor requested a six-month custodial sentence for a 62-year-old widow and a 52-year-old jeweller, accused of obtaining more than 20 million CFA francs and gold jewellery from a businesswoman. The two defendants are appearing before the fast-track court in Diourbel, according to SeneNews.

The public prosecutor requested a six-month custodial sentence for D. Lo, a 62-year-old widow, and B. Thiam, a 52-year-old jeweller, who are being tried in Diourbel for allegedly obtaining more than 20 million CFA francs and gold jewellery from a businesswoman, SeneNews reports, citing L’Observateur.

Between January and March, the complainant, A. Diop, allegedly took out two bank loans of 3 million and 4 million CFA francs to help D. Lo, who cited difficulties related to an inheritance. She also allegedly entrusted her with jewellery to be pawned. D. Lo is said to have obtained 12 million CFA francs from B. Thiam, but told A. Diop she had received only 10 million, according to evidence presented at the hearing.
