Two men have been placed in police custody in an investigation into a forged bank transfer order that caused a loss of 47,052,500 CFA francs to a FBN Bank customer in Senegal. They are Djibril Baldé, a 54-year-old bank employee, and Khalifa Ababacar Ndoye, a 36-year-old trader, the daily Libération reports.
The disputed debit was reportedly made on 14 April 2026 using a transfer order sent electronically, a channel the customer rarely used, according to Libération. Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division are tracing the funds, some of which reportedly passed through the two men’s accounts after being deposited into the account of Camplus, a company based at Banque agricole.
Two transfers to the suspects’ business accounts drew investigators’ attention: 1.5 million CFA francs to Djibril Baldé’s account and 25,043,875 CFA francs to Khalifa Ababacar Ndoye’s. The owner of Camplus is reported to have fled, according to the newspaper.
FBN Bank has denied responsibility and says it complied with the control and compliance rules applicable to the transaction, Libération reports.
