Real Madrid will propose Rafael Nadal, former tennis champion and honorary club member, for its board of directors. Socios will vote at an extraordinary general meeting on 21 November, according to the Spanish club and a statement from Nadal.
Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that it was proposing Rafael Nadal, a Spanish tennis legend and former winner of 22 Grand Slam titles, for its board of directors. The socios, the club’s members, will vote at an extraordinary general meeting on 21 November, according to a statement from the Madrid club.
Nadal, who retired in 2024 and has supported Real Madrid since childhood, has been an honorary member of the club since 2011. He said he had accepted president Florentino Pérez’s proposal with “a great deal of enthusiasm”, adding that he wanted to learn and contribute to the team’s future, according to comments published on his social media accounts. In 2023, he said he would one day like to become Real Madrid president, while considering himself insufficiently qualified at the time.
