The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday 6 November granted Nigerian actress Doris Ogala bail of 30 million naira, as she faces alleged cyber-harassment charges. The decision requires two sureties, each for 30 million naira, according to the court report published by Punch.
Judge Akintayo Aluko ordered Doris Ogala's release once the conditions are met. The two sureties must reside within the court's jurisdiction and provide evidence of their income and tax payments; one must also own property in Lagos or be a recognised public figure, according to Punch.
The actress must surrender her international passport to the court registry and refrain from electronically distributing content that could intimidate or harass prosecution witnesses. She faces three charges relating to alleged cyber-harassment, cyber-bullying and attempted extortion involving Pastor Chris Okafor. She pleaded not guilty, according to Punch.
Doris Ogala had been detained after appearing in court on 28 October. The court had postponed its decision on bail until 6 November following the 30 October hearing, according to Punch.
