Seven of the 16 health centres in Chiúre district, in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, remain closed because of terrorist attacks and Cyclone Chido, which struck the region in 2024, district administrator Isaura Maquina told Rádio Moçambique.

Nine facilities are currently operating. The authorities are seeking to meet demand for healthcare with the facilities that remain open. The violence in the district had already prompted a warning from Chiúre administrator on 6 October, in a report of deadly violence.
