Teboho Rammusi is seeking 2 million maloti from Mafeteng Hospital in Lesotho after an abdominal operation that allegedly caused an intestinal leak and left him without care for seven days. The patient says he was later transferred to Maseru and then hospitalised in Bloemfontein, according to court documents cited by the Lesotho Times.

Teboho Rammusi, a resident of Ha Ramokhele, is seeking 2 million maloti from Mafeteng Hospital in Lesotho over alleged medical negligence. In his complaint filed with the High Court, he says he was left without care for seven days after an operation following a stab wound to his abdomen in December 2024, reports the Lesotho Times.

Mr Rammusi says faecal matter was leaking through tubes attached to his body and that his condition led to his transfer to Tšepong Hospital, previously known as Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital, on 2 January 2025. He says he was subsequently hospitalised in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

The claimant accuses the facility of failing to provide appropriate care or ensure the presence of sufficiently qualified practitioners. The complaint also names the principal secretary of the Ministry of Health, Matšoanelo Monyobi, Health Minister Mamokete Ntšekhe, the hospital’s medical superintendent and Attorney General Rapelang Motsieloa.

The case follows another medical negligence claim against QMMH, in which a patient sought 6 million maloti, according to an article published on 27 September. The two proceedings concern hospitals in Lesotho, but the complaints and amounts sought are distinct.
