More than 130 Ugandan golfers will travel to Kenya on Saturday 31 October to compete in the second season of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series at Limuru Country Club. The tournament, called Migingo Skirmishes, will bring together Ugandan and Kenyan players, according to Nile Post.
The Ugandan delegation includes golfers from clubs such as Entebbe Club, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort, Uganda Golf Club and Marylouise Simkins Memorial Golf Club. This event will be the series’ fourth cross-border tournament, following editions held in Limuru, Kigali and Entebbe. Uganda won the previous competition in Entebbe.
Katogo captain Elly Mukasa described these events as highlights of the members’ calendar, which also encourage regional exchanges. Katogo Golf president Kibuuka said the series aims to strengthen ties between golfers and golf stakeholders in the region.
The tournament’s name refers to Migingo Island, on Lake Victoria, whose location is important to Kenyan and Ugandan fishing communities. I&M Bank Uganda says participants will be able to use its multi-currency prepaid card, which supports the Kenyan shilling and US dollar, among other currencies.
