By the AFREEQUE newsroom, based on Kassataya
Mauritania's Ministry of Equipment and Transport is looking for an independent firm to value Mauritania Airlines' three Embraer aircraft, two E175s and one ERJ-145LR, with a view to their sale, without any price, buyer or replacement aircraft having been announced. Nine months after a state guarantee on a loan meant to return these planes to service, the airline shows no public strategy, according to Le Quotidien de Nouakchott cited by Kassataya.
Mauritania's Ministry of Equipment and Transport is looking for an independent firm to value Mauritania Airlines' three Embraer aircraft, two E175s and one ERJ-145LR, Le Quotidien de Nouakchott reports. Applications closed on 2 November 2026 at 12:00 GMT and the mission is to last about eight weeks after the firm is appointed, which pushes the conclusions to 2027.
The consultant will have to audit the technical and airworthiness files, inspect each aircraft, study the global market for the two models and cost out pre-sale expenses: refurbishment, certification, storage, ferrying or dismantling. A scrapping scenario is planned. The airline will be the contracting party, under the supervision of an ad hoc government commission.
The two E175s had been ordered in July 2018 at the Farnborough airshow, for $93.8 million at catalogue price, with Mauritania Airlines then becoming the first African operator of the model. According to tracking data cited by specialist media, aircraft 5T-CLL has been parked in Nouakchott since July 2023 and 5T-CLO was stored in Nairobi from July 2024 to August 2026. Nine months before this procedure, the state had guaranteed a loan meant to return these same aircraft to service.
No price, no buyer and no replacement purchase have been announced at this stage.
