Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema criticised former party member Mbuyiseni Ndlozi for not voting in South Africa’s 2026 local elections. Ndlozi, now an academic, explained on SABC1 that his abstention stemmed from dissatisfaction with citizens’ conduct, reports IOL.
Julius Malema also discussed the consequences of the election results for the EFF, saying they would help define the party’s next step. He said the EFF would continue its political expansion despite its setback in the elections, reports IOL.
Malema also rejected criticism from Floyd Shivambu, a former EFF member who became leader of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement, over the party’s campaign spending. Shivambu had questioned the millions spent on music festivals and artists, while Malema defended the EFF’s right to decide how to use its funds, according to IOL. The count had reached 98% at the time of the report.
