Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says land costs slightly more than three million naira per square metre in Ikeja, putting it beyond the reach of low-income households. At a conference of Nigerian urban planners in Ikeja, he presented rail development as a way for Agbado residents to reach central Lagos, according to Punch.

The average price of land in Ikeja, a central district of Lagos, is slightly above three million naira per square metre, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, said at a conference of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Punch reported. This price level makes it difficult for low-income households to settle in the area.

Sanwo-Olu said his administration was investing heavily in rail transport to enable people to live in Agbado and travel daily to central Lagos. The governor was represented at the ceremony by Oluyinka Olumide, the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The governor also called for continued cooperation with the NITP to support Lagos's population growth, develop infrastructure and improve access to housing. He presented urban planning as a long-term issue as his administration approaches the end of its term, according to Punch.
