A poll in Johannesburg names the Democratic Alliance (DA) and ActionSA as preferred coalition partners, while preferences vary across four South African metropolitan areas. DA voters in Tshwane also cite the Freedom Front Plus, and those in Cape Town the Patriotic Alliance, according to the survey reported by Business Day.

In Johannesburg, voters surveyed named the DA, South Africa’s Democratic Alliance, and ActionSA among their preferred partners for a municipal coalition, according to a poll reported by Business Day.

Preferences differed across the four metropolitan areas studied. In Tshwane, the FF+, a right-wing South African party, featured prominently among DA voters, while the Patriotic Alliance, or PA, was a notable choice among voters surveyed in Cape Town, according to Business Day.

The results come ahead of the municipal elections on 4 November, as parties are already divided over coalition arrangements in Tshwane and ActionSA’s candidate has highlighted job creation in the metropolitan area.
