Nigeria’s electoral commission INEC has put the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections online, after displaying it physically from 9 to 15 October. The publication is intended to allow voters to check their details and strengthen transparency, according to Mohammed Haruna, INEC’s head of information and voter education.

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has put the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections online. The publication is intended to allow voters to check their details following requests from citizens and other stakeholders, according to Mohammed Haruna, chairman of INEC’s committee on information and voter education.

The register was displayed physically from 9 to 15 October at registration centres across the country, in accordance with Article 19 of the 2026 Electoral Act. INEC said the online version complements the physical display and makes it easier to submit complaints and objections.

The commission is processing these complaints before the certification and publication of the final register, scheduled for 15 December 2026. This stage is part of preparations for the 2027 Nigerian elections and follows the announcement of 57,000 additional BVAS devices, intended for the electoral system.
