Kelechi Iheanacho has scored on twelve consecutive matchdays in the Turkish league with Bursaspor, an unprecedented run in the country’s football history. The 29-year-old Nigerian striker revived his career after joining the Turkish second division in July 2026, according to Daily Trust.

Kelechi Iheanacho, the Nigerian striker for Bursaspor, has scored in twelve consecutive matches in the Turkish second division, a record in the history of Turkish football, reports Daily Trust. He scored the winning goal in the 50th minute against Ankara Keçiörengücü, in his team’s 4-2 victory, which took them to the top of the table.

The run surpasses previous records attributed to Metin Oktay, the Galatasaray legend, in 1963, and Saffet Sancaklı, then a Kocaelispor player, in 1995. Iheanacho also scored against İstanbulspor, Manisa and Fatih Karagümrük during the run.

The 29-year-old joined Bursaspor, a club playing in the Turkish second division, after contract talks with Celtic broke down. He told Bursaspor TV that he had been attracted by the club’s project, which aims to return to the Süper Lig and play in Europe.
