A fire destroyed more than 100 wooden structures and three metal containers in Taifa, in the Greater Accra Region, while a separate blaze destroyed an electrical transformer in Lapaz. No injuries or deaths were reported in either incident, according to the Ghana National Fire Service, which also stopped the fire from spreading to more than 200 nearby structures.

A fire in the Taifa June-July commercial area in the Greater Accra Region destroyed more than 100 wooden structures and three metal containers, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). Firefighters from Madina Fire Station, supported by teams from headquarters, responded at the scene.

The teams prevented the flames from reaching more than 200 neighbouring structures and the Sabbath Faith Salvation Church building. In a separate fire at Lapaz Tabora No. 5, an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer, the state-owned electricity company, was completely destroyed. The GNFS said no injuries or deaths were recorded in either incident.

The National Fire Service urged the public to follow fire safety instructions and quickly report any outbreak to the nearest fire station.
