Eight people died in a collision between an Ivorian-registered bus and a parked Burkinabè bus at Azuletti, near Samenye, on the Elubo-Takoradi road in Ghana, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The accident occurred on Thursday 29 October 2026 at about 7:26 p.m. Elubo firefighters rescued 21 injured passengers and took them to the nearest hospital.

Seven people were pronounced dead at the scene and an eighth died in hospital. The Ivorian bus, which was travelling towards Benin, struck the rear of the Burkinabè vehicle, which was stationary and is said to have been obstructing a lane. The victims’ bodies were handed over to the police. Initial findings suggest that speeding may have been a contributing factor, but investigators must still establish the circumstances of the accident.
